Reliable Architecture

VR has a 30-year legacy of delivering reliable testing hardware that continues to this day. The VR9700 is built with longevity in mind. It features an updated architecture with increased computing power, allowing VR to implement advanced software capabilities well into the future.

Compared to the legacy VR9500, the VR9700 offers:

  • Double-isolated chassis to reduce the potential for ground loops
  • Low-profile footprint
  • Lower power requirement
  • New USB port and TruDAC digital output

Hardware Warranty

Lifetime Hardware Warranty from Vibration ResearchThe VR9700 ships with a 3-year hardware warranty that can be extended to a lifetime warranty with a valid support agreement.

Noise Reduction

The VR9700’s Class II double-insulated chassis reduces the potential for ground loops and helps prevent external components from sourcing a ground reference through the controller. This feature helps isolate the front inputs and drive outputs from the power system, which can improve overall signal integrity and reduce external noise.

The front inputs and drive outputs can also be isolated with the flip of a switch, further breaking potential paths for ground loops.

“We’ve been chasing 120 Hz noise forever—trying everything from grounding changes to panel jumpers. As soon as we connected the 9700, it magically went away!”

Compatible with all Shakers

VibrationVIEW versions 2025 and newer support the VR9700.

With VibrationVIEW, you can set up and safely control vibration shaker tests and generate custom reports. VR hardware works with any electrodynamic, servo-hydraulic, or servo-electric shaker and includes single-axis, dual-axis, dual-phase, rotational, three-axis, multi-loop/four-post, and seismic control options.

Mix-n-Match Compatibility

VR9700s can run independently on separate shakers or combined into a single stack for jobs requiring a higher channel count (up to 128 channels). The VR9700 can be configured with the VR10500 or ObserVR1000 for control or live analysis.

This cost-effective solution creates substantial savings for our customers.

Targeting Future Amplifier Technology

Vibration Research’s TruDAC Digital Output is a stand-alone unit that can be added to a VR10500 or VR9700 system.

A digital control outputs device serves several purposes:

    • Detects disconnected and broken cables between the amplifier and controller
    • Supports longer cable lengths between the amplifier and controller without control signal degradation
    • Breaks the ground path between the amplifier and the controller drive, eliminating a common source of noise

General Specifications

VR9700 Power Switch

The VR9700 hardware does not have a power switch. Connecting/disconnecting the device from a power source functions the same as the on/off switch on other VR hardware. You can leave the unit on in-between use without an issue.

To reduce power usage while the hardware device is connected to power but not in use, engineers can turn off the IEPE power to accelerometers under Configuration > Inputs, if desired. No matter the hardware, engineers should always turn down the amplifier gain when a test is not running.

Additional VR9700 Features

  • Quiet cooling fan
  • 104,000 lines of resolution in Random
  • AUX outputs a higher voltage
  • Remote inputs can measure 0 to 10V and are protected from damage to ±30V
  • Remote outputs can be boosted to a higher voltage via an external power supply to 26.5V (5V provided by box alone)
  • RGB/full-color ring LEDs
