Vibration Research, in collaboration with UNIFIED² Global Package Group, presents Engineering Better Vibration Tests: Applying Best Practices for Reliable Product Development Results. This one-day seminar explores practical approaches to developing vibration tests that are representative, effective, and trustworthy throughout the product development process. Tom Achatz will cover vibration testing fundamentals, FFT and PSD analysis, test strategy and TFMEA, field measurement and representative test development, Fatigue Damage Spectrum (FDS) analysis, tailoring standard test profiles, laboratory best practices, and cross-axis vibration characterization.

The seminar combines technical instruction, live demonstrations using UNIFIED²’s laboratory vibration test equipment, and real-world case studies. It is designed for engineers, technicians, laboratory personnel, and managers from those relatively new to vibration testing to experienced practitioners looking to improve their testing processes.

Participants will gain practical insight into how to measure, understand, replicate, and validate vibration environments and how better test engineering can lead to more meaningful and reliable product development results.

INSTRUCTED BY
Thomas Achatz, PE, holds BS and MS degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan and an MS in Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Tom’s engineering experience includes 34+ years at General Motors in product assurance. At GM, Tom led a team responsible for developing test methods and requirements and components. Tom has published and presented many technical papers. Currently, Tom is a Product Development/Validation Consultant for Vibration Research. Tom has particular interest in applying measured field data to generate customer correlated accelerated vibration tests and is excited about the prospects offered by the Fatigue Damage Spectrum (FDS).
